Lean Improvements at Starbucks Stores

Latest Starbucks Buzzword: 'Lean' Japanese Techniques is an interesting summary of the Lean Process Improvements taken up at Starbucks Coffee recently.

It appears that Scott Heydon, Vice President of Lean Thinking has initiated a number of Lean Process Improvements at Starbucks Coffee. These are at the individual store level and the goal is to eliminate unncessary physical movement, waste of time and other resources. This could be as simple as moving that ingredient container behind the counter where it is needed and used most. Or eliminating unnecessary physical movement behind the counter or elsewhere in the store.
